Stewart McCarter was born in Charleston, SC to a Christian family. He was raised in Charleston Heights Baptist Church, were he began attending 9 months before he was born! He has one older sister who is married to a christian man and also serve the Lord together at their church.
Stewart was saved at the age of 8 in a revival service with E.J. Daniels at his home church. Soon after Stewart surrendered “to preach” and has only pursued the ministry his entire life.
Beginning in his teen years, Stewart was involved in street evangelism, church visitation, youth and adult choir, Sunday School teaching, bus ministry, children ministry, various Bible Studies and even led the choir and worship at Charleston Heights for a brief time. He began as an interim pastor at age 19 and has served in the pulpit ever since. Stewart believes that Jesus died for the church so therefore, we should live for it. HIs passion is to see the Body of Christ grow to maturity and serve Jesus with passionate fervor.
Stewart is married to Janice Leigh (Valentine) McCarter and they have three children. Savannah Leigh Arrington and her husband Stephen. They have Stewart and Janice’s first grandchild Annabelle Leigh and their third grandchild, Mathias Bear, born on December 19, 2015.
Savannah is the Assistant Director of Finances at Sweet Briar College. Stephen is the associate Pastor at First Baptist Church, Monroe, Virginia. The McCarter’s second daughter, Kameron Ruth Masters, is married to Dexter and they have their second grandchild, Kian Russell, and their
fourth Leila Ruth. . Stewart and Janice’s third child is a son, Ian Stewart McCarter who is a junior at Liberty University. Ian works at Liberty University and is engaged to be married to Abigail Woodland in April of 2017. Unless otherwise needed, Ian can be found somewhere in
the Appalachian mountains either following or blazing a trail.
Stewart graduated with a from Columbia Biblical Seminary in 1984 with a Master of Divinity in Theology with an emphasis in North American Ministry and attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to work on a D.Min. Stewart and Janice have served as pastor in four churches, the last being Southside Baptist in Suffolk. Stewart served there for over 22 years and saw God do many miraculous things.
Pastor Bobby has been serving as Associate Pastor of Education and Pastoral Care since January, 1996. He oversees areas such as Sunday School, Awana, and Missions.
Pastor Bobby received his B.S. degree in Christian Education and Pastoral Ministries from Toccoa Falls College in Georgia and his M.A.R. from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. Prior to college, Pastor Bobby and his wife, Patti, spent two years serving as missionaries with "Mercy Ships." They traveled onboard a hospital ship to 14 different nations spreading the gospel and bringing medical and dental care to some of the neediest people in the world.
Pastor Bobby and his lovely wife, Patti, have been married for 30 years, and they have two wonderful teenage children, Emily and Micah. When Bobby accepted the job as Associate Pastor at Calvary in 1996, it was a move that brought him back to his home town, family, and friends.
Pastor Bobby has a heart to serve God’s people no matter what age and to reach the world with the gospel of Christ whether here, at home, or abroad.
Mike and his family recently returned to the United States after serving as a Church Planter/Church Developer for five years in Zambia, Africa with the International Mission Board. Prior to moving to Zambia, Mike served as a Senior Pastor as well as a staff pastor at several churches. Mike is a native of Roanoke, Virginia, and was called to the ministry at an early age. Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music at Bluefield College and his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Mike is passionate about sharing the Gospel and seeing men and women become serious followers of Jesus Christ. His life verse is 1 Corinthians 10:31: "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." Simply put, life is worship. Mike is very happily married to the love of his life, Amy, and they have two beautiful teenage children, Tyler and Evie.
Pastor to Students/Children
Pastor Todd has been on staff at Calvary Baptist since April, 2015. Previously, he served in Youth Ministry for over 18 years in Indiana, Ohio, and Virginia. He received his Pastoral Ministry degree from Taylor University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After marrying Amy and being called to Virginia, Pastor Todd attained his Masters in Church Plant and Evangelism from Liberty University in 2013.
Pastor Todd and his wife, Amy, have been married for 12 years, and have five active sons: Mark, Caleb, Nathan, Isaac, and Paul, whose ages range from eleven to four.
Pastor Todd has a heart to reach the lost for the sake of Christ and to serve others.
Church Plant Missions Pastor/Pastor of Church Downtown
Rob has been at Calvary Baptist since January, 2010. Prior to serving at Calvary, Rob served in churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia in various pastoral roles from children, to youth and family, to music, to administration, to lead pastor. His education includes Moody Bible Institute, Liberty University (B.S. in Religion), and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (M.A.R.).
Rob is a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and it is his desire to encourage, teach, and inspire others to live a life of radical commitment to Jesus as well. God has blessed Rob and his wife, Kelley, with three wonderful children, Ella, Jack, and Levi.
Church Plant Missions Pastor/Pastor of The Village Church
Robert has served at Calvary for the past six years. He and his wife, Rebecca, were married in 2008 and moved to Staunton one week later where he began serving as Youth Intern and then Student/Worship Pastor. They now have two beautiful children, Brooklyn and Bryson, and Robert recently began the second church plant from Calvary, The Village Church, in Churchville, Virginia.
Called into ministry when he was a young teenager, Robert has been involved in church ministry ever since. Robert earned his B.S. in Psychology from North Greenville University in South Carolina and his M.A.R. from Liberty University in Virginia.
